Out and About Safety Tips

One of the most interesting tasks for your sitter during her course of duty would be to take your child out to play. She can be allowed to take them to nearby parks or gardens. If your child is particularly grumpy, an outing to the nearby park may put him in a good mood.

In such a case, inform your sitter about the mode of conveyance that you would be comfortable with while she makes such a trip. Many parents prefer the sitter to walk their child to the parks rather than drive them over.

You may even let her know about the places that she could take your child to for the purpose of recreation. If your sitter is a teenager, warn her not to associate with strangers both for her as well as your child’s safety.

While in your home, there could be many potential ‘ danger zones’ where your child may innocently wander. For example, children who have a fascination for water may jump into your swimming pool! Inform your sitter to keep a tight vigil on your child who might wander near the pool.

A safe way out of this probable danger is to ask your babysitter not to allow your child into the water in your absence. Similarly, tell her to keep your child away from bathtubs, ponds in the garden, the dog’s water bowl etc.

If you have any special equipment in your house, you may wish to keep them away from your child when you are not around. For instance, gardening tools could hurt your child, so locking this type of equipment in the garden shed would be a safe bet. It is vital that you do your level best to ensure your child’s safety in your absence. You must realize that accidents are bound to occur, but the intensity and gravity of mishaps can always be controlled.
